Why Disney Is My Happy Place

“Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.”

-Walt Disney

No matter how old I am or how many times I’ve come, it all starts when I hear the music. The air that was once polluted by car horns, angry parents, and crying children, seems to have cleared as the perfect upbeat melodies slowly make its way into my ears. Beautiful melodies that remind me of popcorn popping. Slow in the beginning just warming you up only to get faster and faster over time. Filling you with excitement and anticipation. Each pop in the music means a pop in my step and with each step, reality is farther and farther behind me… where it belongs.

Then I stop once I realize there are no more steps to take…

I realize when the music surrounds me how Pooh Bear holds a honey jar…

When my heart races like Lightening McQueen towards a finish line…

When I squeeze my Hubby’s hand a little too tight while I jump and squeal with excitement as my big brown eyes glisten like Cinderella’s Slipper under the moonlight, I realize…

I am Home.

If you couldn’t tell by now…

Disney is my happy place.

Taking my girl “B” to Disney for her first time!

“Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever.”

-Walt Disney

Disney is where you can find pixie dust embedded in the pavement under your feet and where all wishes wished upon a star come true even to the smallest set of ears.

Disney is where pure joy is found while you walk the roads of fantasy and adventure, watching the eye’s of little ones lighting up like the brightest of fireworks.

Disney is where everyone has a common bond. Like the two sets of parents who had never met, hysterically laughing together over the fact their kids have made this the 153rd time riding Space Mountain in one week.

A place where Disney addicts and lovers alike come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and backgrounds.

Disney is a place where people with a common love of Churo’s and Mickey shaped ice cream, have no differences. (We all go for the snacks anyway, right?)

Disney is a place where Hakuna Matata means no worries and we can all wish upon the same star.

Disney restores the hope in us all little by little. No matter the age.

No one is ever too old for Disney.

“Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional.”

-Walt Disney

My heart soars every time I stroll down my favorite street. I listen as the melodies float through the air and I can catch the scent of oranges wafting by. It seems as though I always find myself being able to breathe a little better. My steps are lighter and my smile never leaves.

For a short time, I get to live in a world without constant anger and hate. Where smiles and true customer service still reside. Where we can forget about work and focus on family. A place where the days get brighter, memories get greater, and families get happier.

A place where everyday life just get’s better.

People always laugh and think I’m crazy over my love…okay…maybe obsession of Disneyland. But what they don’t understand is that it’s not just a place or an overly priced and packed amusement park.

For me, it’s a place filled with sights, sounds, smells and experiences that put you in the middle of the story and pull on your heartstrings.

A place designed to make you forget about what’s outside it’s gates

believe that anything is possible.

“To all who come to this happy place: Welcome.

Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America – with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all of the world.”

-Walt Disney

(Okay…can we go to Disney now? 🙂 )
